Update | December 2014

It’s happened.

It came out of the blue, really. We had no idea this would happen so quickly, and we definitely weren’t expecting the phone call we received about a week ago.

We were driving out of Orlando, barely an hour into our first Great American Road Trip. That morning we woke early to get on the road and set our GPS to direct us to Hattiesburg, MS. We couldn’t wait to get to Mississippi to visit our friends Lynn and Jon, their newborn baby Bridget, and their cat, Norman.

Anyways, we received a phone call from the MCYM office as we were leaving Orlando. At first we thought it was just a regular check-in call, until:

  1. Josh was asked to put the phone on speaker so Meagan could listen in.
  2. We discovered the MCYM staff coordinator was also on the call.

Then we exchanged a look; we knew this phone call could be really good or really bad.

It turned out to be really good.

We’ve officially been assigned to NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium!!!

God’s timing is SO good. It was such a heartwarming reminder that this is all in God’s hands, that He has a truly beautiful journey in store for us, and to “. . . fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10 ESV).

As soon as we arrived in Colorado Springs, we hit the ground running. Josh has already begun his security clearance paperwork, we’re starting to learn French and Dutch, and beginning to look at apartments in Brussels—you know, between Christmas preparations and spending time with our families and getting settled in Colorado. Even though we feel like we’re flying by the seat of our pants, we’re definitely not complaining.

We have almost reached 70% of our fundraising goal, which is another exciting development in itself. As soon as we meet our goal, we will have the green light to get on a plane. To Belgium.

It’s still sinking in.

We would very much appreciate your prayers concerning our ministry, specifically for our upcoming appointments and for the community we will be pouring into in Brussels. There are military teens there right now that are already waiting for us to show up, and we can’t wait to get there to meet them.
