Thankful

In light of this past weekend’s attacks in Paris, we would like to thank our friends and family for checking in on us. We are at home in Belgium, the anti-terror raids in Brussels are occurring in a suburb far from the ones in which we live and work, and life is continuing as normal within the military community for now. We’re praying for all the people around the world who have been affected by terror, and we trust the Lord in everything that was and is to come.

Ministry in the USAG Brussels community over the past month is continuing to strengthen. Last week, we held a movie party with our middle school students, where we watched Disney-Pixar’s Inside Out. It’s a fantastic movie (if you haven’t seen it, it’s about an 11 year-old girl’s personified emotions who react when her family moves from Minnesota to California), and it opened up a great conversation about understanding and handling emotions with our middle schoolers.

High school ministry is still going strong with our weekly small groups and we’re working to grow new relationships with more students through various types of outreach. This week, we will be hosting a Thanksgiving-before-Thanksgiving party with our high schoolers, a tradition from our Young Life days in college that we’ve brought from Orlando to Brussels.

Coming up next is our high school outreach camp, Winter Camp! We will be taking students to a camp in Germany at the end of December (specifics omitted due to security concerns). Sign ups and registration has just begun, so we would love prayer for the Lord to bring an overwhelming amount of our high school friends to deepen their faith during the best week of their lives at Winter Camp! P.S. - Meagan was asked to design the camp logo this year . . . we think it turned out pretty well!

On a personal note, we have both been asked to be the camp musicians at an upcoming camp in England. The Club Beyond community in Alconbury, England has partnered with the local Young Life International area in London to create a joint weekend camp for middle school students, for whom we will be leading music at the large group meetings (club) during camp. We are so excited to be a part of this cross-cultural event and to show Christ’s love through upbeat, meaningful, intentionally-chosen songs that will open hearts for students to hear the camp speaker and have conversation with their leaders.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” - Ephesians 6:13
